Expect the Unexpected

Expect the Unexpected
So, recently I've been feeling rather uninspired by fashion... nothing has been "catching my eye" (hence the lack of blog posts) but then yesterday whilst taking a leisurely strole around the Manchester shops I spotted the front cover of the latest edition of i-D magazine
...and I was pleasantly suprised!

Maybe it's the fact that recently I'm finding myself surrounded by pregnant women but I really did find this photoshoot beautiful. The styling in these shots was simply amazing and for that reason this is definitely one of my favorite recent fashion shoots!

The model, Julia Restoin Roitfeld looks stunning as ever and the fact that her mother was the stylist simply the icing on the cake! Love it!

What Jodie Wore

What Jodie Wore
So, the sun has finally made an appearance this week and it has caused much confusion to my very unprepared summer wardrobe! Not that I'm complaining mind, as it's the perfect excuse to do some summer shopping!

Monday night was a BBQ at a friends and with it starting to go chilly late at night I opted for a sporty/summer look...

Getting Graphic (part 1)

Getting Graphic (part 1)
So, I'm well aware it's been a while since I last blogged but I have a very good reason for this!

...I have been a very busy bee interning.

Last Friday was the day I have been preparing for for the last few weeks... The Graphic T-Shirt shoot!

This was my first opportunity at TFN to prove myself as an editorial assistant & a stylist. It was my shoot from start to finish: I chose models, picked brands & put together outfits.
It was a perfect little taster of what I shall (hopefully) be doing all the time in the future.

Now as you may be aware with most shoots it isn't all over after the actual shoot itself... the photographer then has to go through all the images and edit the best, putting together our little look book. So, due to this I don't yet have the finished images to show you.

...I did however photograph most of the outfits on the day so you can have a little sneaky preview of what's to come.

...feel free to let me know what you think!

What Jodie Wore

What Jodie Wore
So, last Saturday I went to a wedding... a small, spring wedding of a very close family friend.

As I'd planned an outfit especially I thought what better time to do a What Jodie Wore. Being quite a sophisticated affair it was the perfect chance to get dressed up (like a lady)... quite a difference to how I'd usually choose to dress...
...but I loved it!

Come As You Are

Come As You Are
At heart I've always been a bit of  a grunge girl! It's a trend that always comes and goes in fashion but since the 90's has never really come back around in full swing! If I could go back to the days when grunge was 'the new thing', when Nirvana were first hitting the music scene, I think I'd have been in my element...

Nirvana's Kurt Cobain = King of Grunge

True grunge is always about not caring, having long unkepmt hair, baggy (yet stylish) clothes and always about giving your outfits that hint of 'shabby chic'...

For a while now I've been very dissapointed with the lack of grunge in recent fashion. I mean, don't get me wrong I've totally loved the floral, pretty trends, tailoring andhigh fashion looks, but where's the grunge been???

...and then I discovered it!
This spring/summer 2012 collection from Ksubi is all about the GRUNGE, including both guys and gals pieces it's everything I have been longing for in a new collection! ...It features everything you could hope for; denim, tartan, leather, denim, leopoard print, sweats, knitwear, oh, and did I mention denim?

...it's actually amazing!

But then don't just take my word for it! ...take a look for yourselves!

I know, I know ...I was right! It is amazing!
This collection has without a doubt inspired me to go grunge again... I've already dug-out the beaten up converse and the baggy check shirt, now all I have to do is find Ksubi's stockists and invest in a pair of those gorgeous leather pants!
